Northwoods Adventures

This past summer found us visiting northern Minnesota several times. Connie's cousin's daughter, Arianna, was married at Moondance Ranch, near Leech Lake. After the beautiful ceremony and lavish dinner, we car-camped at the ranch, along with many of the other guests.

We also traveled to Crosslake for a Memorial Service for Connie's beloved Aunt Joan. The service was held in Joan's cabin, with guests spilling out into the yard, reminiscing about all the happiness she had brought to so many people during her long life.

Connie was delighted when our old friends Bob and Kathy invited her to use their home in Deerwood as her writing retreat whenever she was able to get away. They made her very comfortable in their spare bedroom and provided long stretches of quiet writing time, along with breaks for swimming, boating and playing with their new puppy. Connie was so focused on her writing that she neglected to take pictures, so all she has to share is this photo of the black bear that invaded Bob and Kathy's back deck and raided their bird feeder. (It kinda puts our suburban squirrel problem into perspective!)
